Toshiba Introduces Ultra-Thin Internet Tablet JournE Touch

Toshiba JournE Touch Tablet Apple Tablet and Crunchpad will not be the only touchscreen tablets that we hope to see this year. Toshiba has unveiled another touch tablet, which it has named JournE Touch Tablet. The JournE series was earlier reserved only for Toshiba’s digital photo frames. This is for the first time that a different gadget has been added to this series.

JournE Touch tablet sports an impressive design. The admirable appearance of this Toshiba Touch tablet has been inspired by the smart look of the digital picture frames of the JournE series. It flaunts a 7-inch touch sensitive display. The hardware of the touch tablet is integrated in a 0.55-inch or 14mm ultra thin body. Along with its slim form, Toshiba JournE Touch tablet is quite lightweight, weighing about 450 grams.

Toshiba JournE touch tablet is not only about impressive design, but it also includes some interesting technical features. Running on ARM-based processor, the Toshiba JournE will feature Windows CE 6.0 Pro as its operating system. The touchscreen display of this internet and multimedia tablet supports high-resolution images of 800 x 480-pixel. Toshiba JournE also supports high-definition videos. 1080p video recording can be displayed on the screen of this multimedia tablet. Moreover, JournE also comes with an HDMI port, with which the tablet can be connected to a high-definition monitor or TV to display high-definition videos. For web surfing, the mobile edition of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is preinstalled in this Toshiba tablet. JournE internet and multimedia tablet could also support RSS reader, YouTube and WMV, DivX and H.264 video formats. Users can customize the home screen.

The integrated Windows operating system boots up within seconds. You have the option of allowing the Windows desktop to feature on the display. One of the desktop buttons is dedicated to the Toshiba Store, from where users can download apps. JournE Touch will support Wi-Fi. It has 1GB storage space, which can be expanded with SD memory card. The battery supports up to 14 hours of web surfing.

Toshiba JournE Touch will cost $356 and will be available from the fourth quarter of this year.
