Sweet rolls are something that is delicious to have and is a healthy food for your kids. It is easy to make sweet rolls.



For making sweet rolls you need to take a large bowl and to this add one and quarter cup of lukewarm water. Now sprinkle one packet of yeast kept at room temperature over this water. Then add one tablespoon sugar and dissolve it. Keep aside the contents to help the yeast to re-hydrate and foams. It takes almost five minutes.

Now you can add half cup of sugar, four tablespoon butter, two large eggs, 1/3 cup of dry milk powder and one teaspoon salt to this yeast mixture. Combine the entire contents well and then add four and a half cup of all purpose unbleached flour. Make a dough out of these and add flour if needs. The dough must leave the sides of the bowl while stirring and it must be soft and stickier than the real bread dough. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes or till it becomes elastic and smooth.



Get a large bowl and grease it with some butter. Keep the kneaded dough in this bowl and cover it. Allow the dough to be there till the dough rises to double of its bulk. Afterwards take the dough and knead it again to get the normal volume and make a narrow long rectangular shape out of it. Again cover the dough and keep it for 15 minutes. This dough can be used for making any sweet rolls or breads.

To Make the Rolls




Roll the prepared dough in to rectangular shapes having a length of 24 inches and thickness of 1/8 inch. Brush the rolls with butter.

In a small bowl add half cup each of white and brown sugar and half teaspoon of cinnamon. You can also add raisins to this mixture. Then sprinkle the dough roll with this mixture and roll the dough in a jelly roll style and slice it in to slices of one inch thickness. Keep these slices on a baking sheet with a spacing of ¼ inch between them and keep it for sometime till the dough rises to double the volume. Then brush it with cream and bake roll in an oven at 350 degree F for about 20 to 30 minutes or till the roll becomes light golden in color.

Now you can drizzle the warm rolls with confectionery icing made up of one cup of confectioners sugar, 1/8 teaspoon vanilla, two tablespoon melted butter and hot water.
