Pie is a sweet food that can be enjoyed by every one. Here are some recipes for pie that can be made with a nutritious vegetable pumpkin.
Almond Pumpkin Pie
Take a large bowl and to this add two cups of pumpkin and one and a half ounce of sweetened condensed milk. In a small bowl beat two eggs and add this to the first bowl and mix well. Then add one teaspoon almond extract, half teaspoon ground cinnamon and combine the mixtures very well. Then mix half cup of almond brickle chips and transfer the above mixture to a nine inch unbaked pastry shell and top the mixture with some brickle chips. Pre heat the oven and bake the contents for about 15 minutes.
Then reduce the temperature of the oven to 350 degree and bake it for about 30 minutes or till the pumpkin gets baked well. You can check whether the pie is baked properly by inserting a knife to the center and then take it back so that the knife must come out clean. Allow the pie to cool and garnish the pie with one cup of toasted and finally chopped almonds. You can serve the pie hot or can cool it by keeping in a refrigerator.
Baked Pumpkin Pie
Get a large bowl and in this mix 10 tablespoon granulated sugar, a pinch salt, half teaspoon cinnamon powder, half teaspoon ginger, half teaspoon nutmeg and a pinch of ground cloves. Then add one and a half cup of canned pumpkin to this bowl and stir them well. Also add one teaspoon vanilla extract, half teaspoon orange rind, three egg white and one and a half cup of evaporated skim milk. Combine the entire mixture well with an electric mixer and make it a smooth paste.
Get an unbaked nine inch pie shell and transfer the entire contents to the pie shell and bake it for 10 minutes at a temperature of 450 degree F. then reduce the heat to a temperature of 325 degree F and bake it again for 45 minutes or till the pie baked well.
Your pie is now ready to serve.
