Tips to Make Molasses Sugar Cookies
The preparation required for this molasses sugar cookie is about 25 minutes and it requires three hours for chilling. The cooking time is around 15 minutes. All together you can make these cookies in three hours forty minutes.
Take one and a half cup of shortening and melt it in a large pan and then cool. Now add two cups of white sugar, half cup molasses and two eggs. Beat the entire mixture very well.
Take another bowl and to this add four cups of all purpose flour, four teaspoon baking soda, two teaspoon ground cinnamon, one teaspoon ground cloves, one teaspoon ginger and one teaspoon salt. Sift this mixture very well and then add to the pan containing molasses mixture. Mix the entire contents well and keep in refrigerator for chilling and it takes almost three hours.
After three hours get the dough back and shape it in to balls having the size of walnut. Then roll these balls in granulated sugar and keep them on greased cookie sheet with a space of two inches between each cookie. Now bake the cookies at 375 degree F for about eight to ten minutes. Then take them back from the oven and keep on kitchen counter for cooling. Now you need to store them in a container to prevent them from getting too crispy. If the cookies became very crisp then you can retain their softness by keeping a slice of fresh bread in the cookies container for some hours or for the entire night. Then they will become soft again. This will give you almost six dozen molasses sugar cookies. It provides almost 93 calories, 6 mg cholesterol and 4.5 gram fat per serving.
You can enjoy these delicious cookies for about a month.
