The sweet fruit that is produced by tropical tall palm is called dates and is a very popular in Middle East region. Dates are found to have good medicinal value and are used for supplying energy to the weak patients. It is rich in iron and is ideal for anemia and is given to women after delivery for improving their health. Dates are preserved by drying them. A lot of recipes of dates are also available and among them the most popular one is the date pickle. It is an easily made pickle and is very tasty too. Date pickle is served along with rice, biryani, fried rice, bread etc. It can also be served along with snacks.
Tips to Make Dates Pickle
De seed dried dates fruit and chop them in to pieces and take two cups of chopped dates fruit. Keep a frying pan on the stove and heat the pan in medium flame. Now add three tablespoon cooking oil in to the pan. Put the chopped dates fruits in to the oil and shallow fry the fruit in low flame and keep them apart.
Add two tablespoon cooking oil in to the frying pan and to this add half tablespoon of mustard seed and fry them. To this add two teaspoon each of ginger paste and garlic paste and sautÃ© them for getting that aroma. Make sure that they are not turning dark on frying. Now add quarter tablespoon turmeric powder to the above mixture.
To about quarter cup of vinegar add two and a half tablespoon chili powder and mix them well. Add this vinegar chili mixture in to the frying pan and shake up. Then add 1 tablespoon sugar and 2 Â½ tablespoon salt to the pan and mix the entire contents well. Take quarter cup of water and add to the frying pan and boil the entire contents.
Once the contents in the frying get boiled then add the fried date fruits and mix them well. Now boil the contents with constant stirring in low flame till it becomes a thick paste. Then take the frying pan from the stove and allow the contents to cool.
Now your dates pickle in ready to serve.
