After playing around with names such as Xperia X3 and Rachael for quite sometime, Sony Ericsson has finally officially announced the name of its first Android powered smartphone. The upcoming Android phone from Sony Ericsson will be called Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. As Sony Ericsson jumps on the Android phone bandwagon, we can expect to see some exciting competition among rival Android phone producers, trying to woo customers with impressive phone features.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 features
While several latest Android phones, including Motorola Droid and Milestone, have already incorporated Android 2.0 in their new handsets, Sony Ericsson has built its flagship Android device on the earlier Android 1.6 Donut platform. After Acer Liquid A1 Android phone, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be the second Android phone to run on the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Therefore compared to Xperia X10, your Droid or Milestone handsets will appear little sluggish. Sony Ericsson has integrated a new user interface in its flagship Android phone. The unique graphical user interface will ‘humanize’ the interactive function of the handset.
Sony Ericsson has added Mediascape and Timescape apps to the Xperia X10 handset. With Timescape, you can organize all your communications with a single person under a single umbrella. You can check your conversations, text and media messages, emails, photos and updated contents on social network sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Mediascape will help you to organize all your media files, helping you to access your favorite music, video or photos easily. With this Sony Ericsson app, you can access your media files from any locations, including PlayNow and YouTube.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 sports a 4 inches scratch resistant, TFT touchscreen with 480 x 854 resolution and 262K colors support. Similar to most Sony Ericsson smartphones, Xperia X10 has a stunning camera. You can safely consider the 8-megapixel camera of Xperia X10 as one of the best cameras among Android phones. Xperia X10’s camera is equipped with auto focus, touch focus, 16x digital zoom, geo tagging, intelligent face recognition, smile detection, image and video stabilizer and video recording. The stereo Bluetooth support enables users to enjoy music streaming from the integrated MP3 player wirelessly. Web browsing is supported by WebKit web browser. Xperia X10 users can access Bookmarks, web feeds and Google Search preloaded in the handset. Other prominent features of the phone include A-GPS support, USB support, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi, preloaded Google apps and services, 1GB internal memory and micro SD card slot.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 will be available from the first quarter of 2010.
