Sensitive Skin Acne Treatment

It could be quite difficult to treat acne flare-ups on sensitive skin.Chemicals present in common over-the-counter products that are used for treating acne could produce allergic reactions on your sensitive skin, aggravating your skin problem.

Moreover, the sensitive nature of your skin makes it extremely susceptible to acne outbreaks.

Sensitive skin acne treatment tips

Cleansing

To cure acne outbreak on sensitive skin, you should follow a regular cleansing routine. Soap free cleansers are usually beneficial for acne prone sensitive skin. These cleansers usually contain 12 to 15 percent glycolic compounds.

These mild cleansers clean the skin and remove the grime and dirt from the pores without irritating the skin. In addition, they can hydrate your skin. Glycolic acid in skin care products release active oxygen in your skin that helps to kill acne-causing bacteria living in the pores of the skin.

The oil free sensitive skin cleansers prevents your skin from becoming excessive oily. Usually cleansers with pH 4.4 are recommended for cleansing acne prone sensitive skin.

However, if you are suffering from skin disorders such as rosacea, you might opt for milder hypoallergenic and non-comodogenic skin cleansers. Usually these cleansers have pH of about 5.5. Non-glycolic cleansers could sooth extremely irritated skins.

Castile soap made from olive oil could be used by people with dry sensitive skin. This mild vegetable oil based soap mildly moisturizes sensitive skins without producing any adverse side effect.

Although regular cleansing reduces the risk of acne breakouts and helps to heal your skin problem, over-washing could irritate your skin. People with sensitive skin should therefore wash their face with a soap free mild cleanser not more than twice a day. If you have sensitive skin, you should avoid skin scrubbers or cleansers and facials containing abrasives.
