Saygus VPhone – USA’s First Video Conferencing Cell Phone

This 4.58 inches (length) x 2.34 inches (width) x 0.79 inches (depth) smartphone is a beauty that has all the features to impress the smartphone freaks. Running on the Android platform, Saygus VPhone is powered by the 624MHz Marvell PXA 310 processor. The 624MHz processor might not match the speed of 1GHz Snapdragon, which you would find in the upcoming Nexus One, but the processor speed of 624MHz is definitely an improvement over most standard smartphones.



Saygus VPhone sports a 3.5 inches capacitive touch sensitive display of 800 x 480 pixels resolution. The display is designed to produce crisp and detailed images. This smartphone comes with two cameras. The main 5 megapixel camera is equipped with auto focus and flash. The forward facing secondary VGA camera will support video calls. If you are more comfortable with a physical keyboard, instead of using a virtual keyboard, you can use the slide out full QWERTY keyboard of Saygus VPhone.

As the name VPhone suggests, this phone is designed for making video calls. This first video conferencing phone of USA is designed to work efficiently on the 3G network. It would even offer decent service on the EDGE network. Moreover, Saygus claims that this first generation video conferencing phone will use up to 5GB of the carrier’s bandwidth, which is adequate for making 1,000 minutes of video calls. Video telephony or two-way video calling is supported by this device.



Saygus VPhone has an integrated media player for supporting audio and video files. This upcoming phone will support Bluetooth and WiFi. VPhone also features integrated GPS, FM radio, accelerometer, USB port and digital compass. The battery of the smartphone could support up to 7 hours of talk time, 250 hours of standby time, 8 hours of music playback time and 4 hours of video talk time. It has 16GB of internal storage space. External memory could be expanded up to 32GB with microSD memory card.
