RIM Introduces BlackBerry Storm 2 BlackBerry Storm despite its stunning appearance had some drawbacks. The limited success of this touchscreen RIM phone was attributed to its missing physical keyboard. Typing on the virtual keyboard on the phone’s display was not always an easy task. To resolve the problems of the original BlackBerry Storm, RIM has recently launched an upgraded version of the BlackBerry Storm – BlackBerry Storm 2.

BlackBerry Storm 2 features
RIM has not added a physical keyboard to this new version of BlackBerry Storm. Instead, it has refurbished the clickable touch screen interface, incorporating the advanced SurePress technology in the smartphone handset. Unlike the original BlackBerry Storm, users will no longer need to exert extra pressure to type on the virtual keyboard. The improved multi touch feature of the touch screen will provide faster typing speed. Users will also have greater space on the screen to accomplish their typing job.

Moreover, the touch screen could sense whether the finger is resting on the display or typing. The haptic feedback will resemble the feeling of typing on a physical keyboard.

BlackBerry Storm sports a 3.25-inch capacitive touch sensitive display. This RIM smart device is powered by the BlackBerry OS 5 platform. It has a stylish design with stainless steel back cover and chrome accents. This touch screen BlackBerry phone is 113mm long, 62mm wide and 14mm thin. It weighs 160 grams. This touch phone boasts a 3.2-megapixel camera with 2x zoom, auto focus, image stabilization, flash and camcorder. For music lovers, BlackBerry Storm 2 comes with integrated MP3 music player with access to VCAST Music. This RIM phone has 256 MB internal storage space. The external memory of BlackBerry Storm 2 could be expanded with microSD memory card. The 1400 mAh Li-Ion battery of BlackBerry Storm 2 could support up to 5.50 hours of talk time and up to 270 hours of standby time. This phone will run on Verizon’s dual band CDMA network. BlackBerry Storm supports all prominent messaging formats. Web surfing is facilitated by BlackBerry Browser. The integrated GPS of the handset is powered by BlackBerry Maps and VZ Navigator. BlackBerry Storm 2 features Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Price and Availability
BlackBerry Storm 2 will be available in US from Verizon retail stores from November. It will cost around $200.
