Formation of Gas during pregnancy is a common phenomenon. Most of the pregnant woman may suffer from gas problems that lead to burping, bloating, passing gas, pain in the stomach and the related discomfort. The intensity of gas trouble varies from person to person. Certain food items cause formation of more gas than others and so you have to avoid such foods.



Causes for Gas
The hormones produced during pregnancy called the progesterone will relax the smooth muscles with in the body including the muscles in the digestive tract. Relaxation of muscles leads to slow digestion of the food and this in turn lead to formation of gas. The enlargement of uterus will further add pressure on the abdominal region leading to slow down in digestion. Slow digestion will also leads to constipation and which in turn aids in the gas development.

Remedies for Gas

Avoid foods that cause gas and it includes some vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, beans, broccoli, brussels sprout, asparagus, onion etc. Certain fruits are also responsible for gas formation as it contains sugar and the fruits include apple, peaches, pear, prunes etc. Also avoid carbonated drinks, chewing gums, artificial sweetened foods and sucking on hard candy.



Be careful in your food pattern and eat smaller quantity of meals in frequent intervals. Chew your food thoroughly and never swallow the food. Also try to avoid drinking of water between the meals and instead drink enough water after the meals. Also make sure to sit straight while taking food.

Try to include slight exercise in your daily routine like brisk walk for about 20 minutes or practice yoga. To help digestion and to relive pressure from abdomen keep your legs up on a chair and chew a few fennel seeds after your meals.




Tea made out of peppermint is also found to be ideal for soothing the muscles in the digestive tract and this gives you relief from gas. In order to avoid constipation include foods that are rich in fibers. While taking food rich in fiber, drink lot of water to avoid gas.

    The list of veggies and fruits that you mentioned in the list to avoid for gas problems are most essential elements that needed by pregnant mom. Those are rich in minerals and vitamins. I think you should study the list again.
