Party for one: enjoying your single status

single-life Being single is not a crime, neither is it a state of being in hell. There are many couples who would rather be single again just for the freedom it offers. In the end, it’s all about your own perspective and wishes. Don’t be swayed by what people say. Remember that it’s better to be single and happy rather than married and unhappy.

Enjoy your single status while it lasts. It’s not a ticking time bomb – life is too short to waste in complaining. Live in the present – the past is over and the future will take care of itself.

Learn to be strong, confident and positive. Unless you believe in yourself no one will have faith in you. Realizing your self worth is important. Know that you don’t need someone to take care of you and you’ll be able to ignore people’s negative remarks about your single hood.

An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. If you sit around thinking about what you don’t have, you’ll end up feeling lonely and sorry for yourself. Avoid this condition by keeping yourself busy.

Besides work, try and find new activities. Indulge in hobbies that you gave up because of your busy career. If you don’t have any interests, cultivate new ones like reading, photography, painting, music, theatre etc.

Help and Volunteer

There are some people who are born to take care of others. If you’re one of them, being single need not depress you. Spend time with your friends and family and help them out in any way you can. They’ll only be glad for your help.

You can also do volunteer work for charitable institutions. Such shelters and homes are filled with abandoned people who have no one to care for them. Your time, talent and compassion might be of much help there.

Being in a relationship is not bad, but neither is being single. The grass always appears greener on the other side, so don’t look there at all. Look at your side with a new perspective and it will appear beautiful and bright.
