Motorola Unveils i1 For Sprint

Motorola is busy expanding its cell phone portfolio, creating phones running on the robust Android platform. It has recently arrived with a new Android phone, created for Sprint Nextel, named Motorola i1. This will be the first Android phone to support Sprint’s push to talk service.

Motorola i1, showcased for the first time at CTIA in Las Vegas, is a rugged phone, meeting the Military Standard 810F specifications. It could withstand extreme temperature, low pressure, dust, vibration, solar radiation and shock. The push to talk feature equipped in the phone allows users to connect to 20 other Sprint Nextel subscribers at the same time. You can even exchange emails or send voice messages using the push-to-talk service of Sprint Nextel.

In the reviews, Motorola i1 is a full touchscreen phone. It boasts a 3.1 inches capacitive touch sensitive display. The TFT screen of the rugged Android device is equipped with accelerometer and ambient light sensors. It supports over 262 thousand colors. The upcoming Motorola phone has not one, but two outstanding virtual keyboards. For writing texts, you can use either the standard Android virtual keyboard or the Swype virtual keyboard. The integrated 5 megapixel camera of the phone is fitted with 4x zoom, flash, video recorder and geo tagging features. Motorola i1 has an integrated Android Music Player. To enhance the audio quality, dual microphone noise reduction technology is included in the speakerphone.

Motorola i1 users could access apps and widgets from the Android Market. Microsoft Document Viewer app is integrated in the handset. For browsing, the Opera Mini 5 browser is included in the Motorola device. The browser will support Flash enabled web pages. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and PC syncing through USB 2.0 are supported by Motorola i1.

This GPS enabled phone is equipped with Google Maps with Street View for guiding you to your destination with turn-by-turn navigation guidance. Running on the iDEN network of Sprint Nextel, the Motorola Android phone will offer up to 260 MB internal storage space. External memory expansion is supported with microSD card. The battery of Motorola i1 supports up to 3.50 hours of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time.
