Motorola Brings Droid Android Phone

Motorola Droid After Cliq, Motorola has unveiled its second Android phone, named Motorola Droid. According to Motorola, Droid is a “pint sized power plant”. Jumping on the Google Android Bandwagon, Moto has created a smartphone that will provide enhanced speed with better multitasking capabilities.

Running on the Android 2.0 Éclair operating system, Motorola Droid flaunts a chic slider form. It is 2.4 inches long, 4.6 inches wide and 0.5 inches thin.

Motorola Droid weighs around 169 grams. The 3.7-inch touch sensitive display of Motorola Droid is one of the finest displays supported by smartphones. The 480 x 854 pixels resolution screen of Droid is designed to produce precise viewing with 16:9 widescreen format. To facilitate messaging, Motorola Droid is equipped with a slide out full QWERTY keyboard. This Android phone from Motorola comes with an impressive 5 megapixel camera, fitted with 4x digital zoom, dual LED flash, image stabilization and automatic focus. Motorola Droid provides near PC-like web browsing experience. Web browsing function of this Motorola device will be supported by the integrated Webkit HTML 5. However, Motorola Droid users have to wait until next year to get Flash 10 support for the browser. Just like any other high-end phones, this Motorola Android phone will support messaging in all prominent formats. Motorola Droid will support email, multimedia messaging, text messaging and instant messaging via Google Talk.

It will also support standard voice mail and Verizon Visual Voice Mail. It sports advanced speech recognition, automatic answer, automatic redialing, conference calling, speakerphone, emergency dial and on hold call features.

The dual microphone of this Motorola smartphone is equipped with noise reduction feature. For social networking, entertainment and professional requirements, Facebook, Amazon MP3 Store and QuickOffice Document Viewer apps are preloaded in the Motorola Droid handset. Droid users can also access popular Google apps and services including Android Market, GMail, Google Calender sync, Google Maps, Google Maps with Street View, Google Turn-By-turn Directions, Google Quick Search Box, Google Search by Voice and YouTube. Droid also comes with integrated aGPS and sGPS support. This smartphone will run on CDMA and EVDO rev A connectivity.

Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack and USB port are integrated in this smartphone. Motorola Droid has a huge storage space with 16GB microSD preinstalled in the device. The battery of Droid supports up to 385 minutes of talk time and 270 hours of standby time.

Motorola Droid will be available with Verizon contract from the end of October.
