Backflip has derived its name from its unique reverse flip design. This innovative design of the smartphone will allow users to use the Motorola smartphone in the tabletop mode, converting the device into a hands free audio and video player. Motorola Backflip runs on the Android 1.5 platform. However, to match the expertise of the upcoming phones powered by the Android 2 or the latest versions of the operating system, Motorola has kept open the option of upgrading Backflip to the latest Android OS. The 3.1 inches TFT display of the phone supports 256K colors and 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Equipped with the MotoBlur user interface, Backflip is appropriate for multi tasking.
The customizable home screen of the device, will instantly display news, messages and status updates of social networking sites. To meet the demand of the social networking crazy generation, Facebook, Twitter and MySpace apps are loaded in the device. The reverse flip full QWERTY keyboard of Motorola Backflip enhances the multi tasking functionality of the smartphone. Motorola Backflip comes with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, digital zoom, auto focus and image editing tools.
The phone’s camera can be used for capturing videos at a speed of 24 frames per second. The integrated Android Media Player could play audio and video files. Web browsing will be supported by the full HTML Android Webkit web browser. This upcoming Motorola device features 3.5mm audio jack, stereo Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and micro USB port.
Text messaging, multimedia messaging, email, instant messaging and voice mail will be supported by Motorola Backflip. The battery of this Moto phone will support up to 6 hours of talk time and 13.5 hours of standby time. Popular Google mobile services such as GMail, Android Market, Google Talk and YouTube are preinstalled in the device. The integrated GPS support and the preloaded Google Maps would aid users to find directions. Motorola Backflip has 2GB of storage space and the external memory could be expanded up to 32GB.
Motorola Backflip will be available from the first quarter of this year.
