Fondants are candy made out of thick and creamy sugar paste. It is an ideal decorative for cakes and cookies. You can prepare fondants and can store it in sealed containers for about a week. You can also give this to your kids. The following steps may help you to make marshmallow fondants.



Tips to Make Marshmallow Fondants

Take 500 grams of marshmallow in a large microwave safe bowl and sprinkle two tablespoon of water on it. Then microwave the marshmallows at high temperature for about 30 seconds. If the marshmallow starts to melt then you can stop otherwise keep it for another 30 seconds with a splash of water and stir them in between. Take the bowl out of the microwave and add 500 gram of confectioner’s sugar. Beat them well till you get a sticky mass.



Spread the remaining 500 gram of confectioner’s sugar on the clean table top. Also add the required flavor to the marshmallow mixture. You can add one teaspoon of vanilla essence, peppermint essence or anything of your preference. The quantity of essence required depends up on the potency of your flavoring agent and the final flavor that you prefers to have.

With your hand which is coated with butter, knead the sticky mass of marshmallow with essence and the remaining confectioner’s sugar on the table top. While adding sugar takes care to add excess sugar as it makes your dough dry. If required you can add water to the mixture but one tablespoon at a time. Knead the dough very well and till you get an elastic and smooth ball. If your dough is breaking while stretching then you can add little more water and knead.




If you want to add color to the marshmallow mixture then add the food color or cocoa powder after the marshmallow gets melted in microwave. You can use the dough now or can refrigerate it for a day. While refrigerating double wrap it and keep it in an airtight container. If the dough is hard after refrigerating them keep it in microwave for defrosting then dough becomes softy. If it is still dry then add some butter and work with it. You can make beautiful shapes out of this and can decorate your cakes and cookies.
