Married life – learn the art of compromise

Married life A certain proverb goes – Live to learn and you will learn to live. We are constantly learning: acquiring qualifications, practical skills or life lessons. Rather than running away from the problems in life or complaining about them, a better option is to learn how to deal with them. In a marriage, learning the art of compromise helps in easing out many issues.

Men and women are different, and every individual is different too. When two people get married, two separate lives and identities are meshed together.

And while it is true that love conquers all, love also causes pain. Any marriage requires a combination of love and cooperation.

It is possible for married couples to resolve marital issues by learning the art of compromise. It may not be easy at first, but patience and perseverance will prevail to save your marriage from falling apart.

Accept and agree
It is difficult to become the perfect couple as quarrels are a part of any relationship and sometimes necessary for it to grow. Difference of nature and opinion will always be there but the important thing is to accept their existence and find the middle ground.

Find out ways to work around the varied interests of you and your spouse. Plan your dates, vacations and dinner choices to satisfy the needs of both. For example, if one likes movies but the other prefers sports, plan to do both these activities on alternate weekends.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder
It may seem absurd but sometimes even time spent apart helps to bring couples closer. Just because you’re married doesn’t mean you have to do everything together.

Give each other space occasionally so that you don’t feel stifled by the relationship. If he or she feels like spending some time with friends only or perhaps by themselves, let them do so.

Remember that compromise works both ways. Both of you should be willing to cooperate with each other. You may not always enjoy compromise, but the result will be worth it.
