Low Cholesterol Recipes

Vanilla Ice-cream

In order to make a low cholesterol, low saturated fat and low calorie vanilla ice cream, you need

Unflavored gelatin – three teaspoon
Skim milk – three cups
Sugar – six tablespoon
Vanilla extract – three teaspoon
Water – three tablespoon

Combine gelatin with three tablespoon water and allow it to boil. Stir the gelatin mixture continuously till it dissolves. Now dissolve six tablespoon sugar in three cups of skim milk and keep it in a medium heat. Stir the milk till the entire sugar dissolves very well. Take the milk out of the heat and add gelatin mixture. Then slowly add vanilla extract and mix well. Transfer the entire contents to a shallow container and keep it in refrigerator. When the mixture is about to set then take it out and beat until it becomes fluffy and white. Now you can keep the mixture back to refrigerator for freezing. This ice cream will add 58 calories per serving along with 0.1 gram fat and 1 milligram cholesterol.

Cinnamon Apple Muffins


Wheat bran flakes cereal with raisins – one and a half cup
Whole wheat flour – one cup
Baking powder – one tablespoon
Powdered cinnamon – one teaspoon
Salt – 18 teaspoon
Milk – 13 cup
Honey – three tablespoon
Vegetable oil – three tablespoon
Peeled and grated apple – one

Take a medium sized bowl and to this add cereals, baking powder, whole wheat flour, salt and cinnamon. Mix them well and keep aside. Now in another bowl take skim milk, oil and honey, combine them well and then add this mixture to the flour mixture. Stir the entire mixture till it becomes moistened. Now mix the grated apple with this mixture.

Now fill the muffin cups lined with paper to about ¾ volume and bake the muffins for about 25 minutes or till it becomes golden brown in color. This dough will be enough to give you 12 muffins. Each muffin will contribute 114 calories along with 4 gram fat and zero cholesterol.
