CommunicAsia expo held in Singapore is a popular venue for launching new cell phones. LG has chosen this conglomeration of communication device manufacturers to launch its latest handsets – LG GT500 and LG GW550.
LGGT500 is a full touchscreen bar phone. It has a 3-inch TFT touch display, supporting 16 million colors and images of 240 x 400 pixels resolution. It will operate on S-Class touch user-interface. The accelerometer of the phone enables auto rotating of the user-interface. The phone will run on GSM and HSDPA networks. LG GT500 also supports 3G, Wi-Fi, EDGE, HSCSD, GPRA and Bluetooth. The microSD memory card slot allows users to expand storage capacity of the device up to 16GB. GT500 is fitted with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, auto focus and geo tagging features. It boasts WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, push Email, GPS, MP3 player and document viewer for seeing Word, Excel, PDF and PowerPoint files. If you find nothing unique about the above specification of this new full touch LG phone, the WisePilot navigation feature might see something rather exciting.
The preloaded navigation app takes the advantage of the built in GPS receiver to guide drivers. The navigation license for using WisePilot will be free in the first month after purchase. However, in order to use it for a prolonged period, you have to buy this app.
This is another bar phone, but unlike the full touch GT500, this is a fully QWERTY smartphone. It features a 2.4 TFT display, supporting 65 thousand colors and 320 x 240 pixel images. It will run on GSM and HSDPA connectivity. It will support 3G, EDGE, GRPA, HSCSD and Bluetooth.
However, you will not get WiFi support on this device. Users can expand memory to 8GB with microSD memory card. LG GW550 has a 3.15MP camera. This is a Windows Mobile phone, running on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard platform. It is equipped with WAP 2.0/xHTML browser, instant messaging and push email options and document viewer.
