Laughter increases oxygen flow in the brain and the entire body. It has both psychological as well as physical benefits. According to health experts, the benefits of artificial or self-induced laughter are same as of natural laughter.

The human brain could not differentiate between the two. Beginners might find it slightly difficult to laugh continuously for several minutes. However, with regular practice, a laughter yoga practitioner could laugh for about 15 to 20 minutes at a stretch.

Laughter yoga stimulates deep breathing or diaphragmatic breathing. The diaphragm is a muscular layer between the abdomen and the chest. When we are stressed, our breathing pattern becomes irregular, fast and shallow.

By lowering the level of stress hormones in the body, laughter yoga could minimize the harmful effect of these hormones on the immune system. It could lower the risk of allergy, asthma and respiratory ailments. Laughter yoga could normalize blood glucose level.
