Limit sodium intake

Limit potassium intake
Even salt substitutes are harmful for people suffering from kidney diseases. Salt substitutes contain potassium. Excess potassium is harmful for the kidney. You should limit consumption of potassium rich fruits and vegetables such as oranges, bananas, prunes, Kiwis, raisins, cantaloupe, nectarine, asparagus, avocado, potatoes, tomatoes, pumpkin and spinach.
Check fluid consumption
You should always watch your fluid intake. Limit consumption of juices, soups and broth and watery fruits such as watermelon, grapes, celery, lettuce and tomatoes.
Restrict phosphorous consumption
If you are suffering from chronic kidney ailment, high levels of phosphorous could increase the risk of total kidney failure. Certain dairy products contain high amounts of phosphorous. You should replace milk, cheese and yogurt with low phosphorous dairy products such as butter, cream cheese or ricotta cheese.
