Dogs always crave for attention. Your pet will always seek your company. If you are a workaholic, who spends most of the time outdoors, dog might not be an appropriate pet for you. Dogs, particularly the young ones, might become bored and depressed from solitude. Dogs are social animals. They are happiest with lots of people around them. They could easily fit into your family. However, if there is any kid in your family below 7 years of age, you should be careful while introducing a dog in your family. Young children might not handle puppies and small dog breeds. If you have kids at home, you can adopt medium or big dogs more than five months old. A healthy dog needs regular physical activities. You should be prepared to take your pet on walks and hikes. If you want to keep a big dog, make sure that there is enough space in your house for the animal to move around. If you do not have the time to take your pet outdoors for exercise, consider adopting a small or less active older dog.

If you don’t have enough time to spend with your pet, considering adopting a cat. These independent creatures do not mind spending time on their own. You might love to adopt a kitten, but usually it is difficult to assess its personality when it grows up. It is advisable to adopt a young cat at least one year old. If you want a clever and playful cat, select a shorthaired breed.

A bird can easily fit into any household. These chirpy featured friends could however be quite messy. You should be prepared to clean its cage every day. Bring a birdie home only if there is enough tranquility in your house. Birds could be startled by loud noises.
