Tips to Make Carrot Cake
You will be familiar with fruit cakes but at least some of you may wonder about adding a vegetable in to a cake. Carrot cakes are some thing that is very delicious and healthy. Carrot will add roasted nut flavor to your cake. Cake made out of carrot will be rich in vitamin A and dietary fibers. This differently tasted cake will definitely attract the children and through this you can include carrot in their diet.
Ingredients for Making Carrot Cake
Butter – half cup
Honey – 2/3 cup
Jaggery – half cup grated jaggery
Whole wheat flour – one and a half cup
Cinnamon powder – one teaspoon
Nutmeg powder – half teaspoon
Baking powder – half teaspoon
Carrot – two cups grated carrot
Making the Cake
Take butter in a pan and allow it to melt by keeping on a stove in low flame. Then add honey and jaggery to the melted butter and mix them well and turn off the stove. Now in another bowl take the wheat flour, nutmeg powder, cinnamon powder and baking powder. Mix the powders well and sieve the powders at least for five times. This will help you to get a fine mixture that does not have balls. This will also aerate the flour and helps to bake it thoroughly.
Now you have to add the powders in to the butter mixture with constant agitation. Mix the mixture well to avoid the formation of lumps. Then add the grated carrot in to the mixture and mix it with the flour butter mixture until it makes sheet consistency dough.
Preheat the oven at a temperature of 360 degree F or 180 degree C. Take a baking pan and grease it with butter first and then dust some flour to avoid the stickiness. Keep the baking pan inside and bake the cake for around one hour. Afterwards keep the cake over a wire mesh for cooling.
Icing the Cake
Mix three cups of icing sugar with one cup of butter and beat them well to make a soft mixture. Now add one teaspoon lemon juice, two drops of vanilla essence and mix them well. You can also add zest of orange in to this mixture. Then spread the mixture over your cake. You can even make shapes with this icing mixture. Keep the cake in a refrigerator until serving.
