A jug and a strainer

For this method, you will need an earthenware pot, a strainer, coffee grounds and hot water. Firstly, you need to heat the pot by pouring hot water into it. Let it stand for about 30 seconds before pouring the water out.

Put the required quantity of coffee grounds in the pot. Add water that is nearly boiling. This is kept standing for a few minutes. The coffee is then poured into mugs using a strainer.

Filter coffee maker

This is an electrical coffee machine with a paper filter. Coffee grounds are placed in the filter that is kept over a pot. Heated water then drips onto the coffee which in turn drips down into the jug. Once the process is complete, the paper with the coffee grounds can be disposed off.

Plunger pot

The plunger pot is also known as the French press and is made of borosilicate glass. It comes in three different sizes: 3-cup, 8-cup and 12-cup. The coffee grounds are put in the pot and then the plunger is placed on it.

Coffee passes through the metal filter and the grounds stay at the bottom of the pot. You can then pour out the coffee.

Select a method of preparation that is convenient for you. Treat yourself to a steaming cup of black coffee!
