How to Make a Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich is a very good snack for both kids and adults. This will make a good snack for your trips.
Normally people use white bread for making sandwich but if you are planning for a meal then you can use the more nutritious whole wheat bread. The whole wheat bread having a lot of fibers will help you to fill your stomach along with adding taste to the sandwich. Rye bread is also a good choice as it may prevent diabetics and certain cancers. Even multi grain bread can be used.
Peanut butter is available in different forms like smooth, crunchy, natural peanut butter etc. the smooth one will match with the smooth texture of the jelly while the crunchy one having bits of peanut will taste robust. The natural peanut butter containing peanut and salt will give you a delicious sandwich. Instead of peanut butter you can also add chocolate hazelnut spread. Even cream cheese can be used in place of peanut butter.
You can use grape jelly, strawberry jelly, cranberry jelly, blackberry jelly, raspberry jelly, blueberry jelly etc for making the sandwich.
Making the Sandwich
Take two slices of bread and on one slice add peanut butter and spread the peanut butter evenly on the bread. Before spreading peanut butter you can spread butter or margarine on the bread slice for more taste. On the other slice spread the jelly evenly and never add too much jelly as it may leak at times. Keep the peanut buttered slice on top of the jelly spread slice and press them together. You can also cut them in to different shapes with the help of a sandwich cutter or cookie cutter.
Place a frying pan on the stove and heat it by adding one teaspoon butter. Then place the sandwich on the pan and toast the two sides of the bread separately. Toast the bread till it becomes golden brown. On toasting the bread, the jelly and peanut will dissolve and mix up to give better taste.
