Triglycerides are considered as a form of fat. If you eat lot of calories than that is required for the normal functioning of the body, then the liver will transform these extra calories in to triglycerides which are then stored in the body as fat.

High amount of triglycerides in body will increase your chances of developing heart diseases as the fat get deposited in the arteries. The level of triglycerides in a healthy person must be around 199 milligram per deciliter of blood. Hence you need to lower your triglyceride levels and here are some tips to lower your triglycerides.

Exercise




In order to maintain the amount of triglycerides in your blood you need to do good exercise daily. This may help you to control your weight. Also limit your intake of caloriesas this help you to limit the formation of triglycerides.

Trans Fat and Saturated Fats

Limit your intake of trans fats and saturated fats by avoiding the fatty pieces of meat, whole milk products, foods cooked in hydrogenated oil etc. Instead use low fat cheese and other diary products, olive oil, sunflower oil, soybean oil, corn oil, peanut oil etc. also you can take fish like wild pacific salmon, sardines, summer flounder, tilapia but limit their intake to single serving per week. If you are using meat then use the lean meat.

Vegetables and Fruits

Include as much  fruits and vegetables in your diet. Include vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, potato, celery etc. Try to take one deep yellow and one green vegetable daily. in case of fruits the citrus fruits are considered to be good and you should take at least one citrus fruit daily. Other than fresh fruits you can also take canned and frozen fruits but it should be free of sugar.

High Fiber Foods

Include foods that are enriched with fibers like whole grains, enriched bread, oatmeal, legumes, beans etc in your diet.

Green Tea

Green tea is found to have anti-oxidants and can help you to lower your triglyceride levels.

Also avoid the intake of alcohol and alcohol gets transformed in to glucose with in the body and thus raises the level of triglycerides.
