Homemade Gelato Recipes

Made of milk, cream, sugar, fruits and nuts, gelato is a type of Italian ice cream. Compared with the traditional ice creams, gelato has low fat content but it is more sugary. Here are some simple gelato recipes that you can try at home.Vanilla gelato
Ingredients
Five egg yolks
Two cups of full cream milk or whole milk
One cup of caster sugar
One cup of cream
One teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

Method of preparation
Beat the egg yolks and caster sugar in a bowl, until they attain a thick and fluffy consistency. Pour the milk in a pan and simmer it. Now pour half of the warm milk to the egg yolk and sugar mixture, and mix the ingredients.



Transfer the milk and egg yolk mixture to rest of the simmering milk. Stir the milk over low heat, until it becomes thick. Make sure that the milk does not boil. When a film starts forming on back of the spoon, remove the pan from the heat. Allow the milk to cool. Add the cream and stir the ingredients. Add the vanilla extract and blend it well with the mixture. Pour the mixture in an ice cream maker and allow the ingredients to freeze. Your vanilla gelato is now ready.

Lemon gelato
Ingredients
Five egg yolks
One cup of granulated sugar
1 ½ cups of whipped cream
One cup of full cream milk
Three tablespoons of lemon peel
Two tablespoons of lemon juice
One teaspoon of vanilla extract



Method of preparation
Whisk the egg yolks and sugar in a bowl, until the ingredients become thick and yellow. In a pan, heat the milk. Add half of the milk to the egg yolk and sugar mixture. Blend the ingredients to form a smooth mixture. Now transfer the egg yolk and milk mixture to rest of the simmering milk. Add the lemon peels to the milk and keep on stirring the milk on low heat.

When the milk becomes thick, remove the saucepan from the fire. Allow the milk to cool. When the milk attains the room temperature, add the whipped cream to the mixture and blend the ingredients well. Now add the lemon juice and vanilla extract and stir the ingredients. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream freezer and freeze the lemon gelato according to the manufacture’s instruction.
