Homemade face-masks for oily skin

8 July, 2009 No Comments

face-masks-for-oily-skinOily skins are troublesome to deal with most of the time. Acne-prone, pimple-prone; all such are the common characteristics of such a skin type. However, if you can balance the oil level of your face, then it can make your skin look smooth and beautiful.

For that, a proper cleansing, toning and moisturizing regime is very essential. Also, knowing the right face mask that could bring your oil quotient down comes handy.

So here are a couple of homemade face masks for oily skin:

Clay mask

The first and foremost job is to bring your over-active oil glands into control. Nothing works better in that direction other than a clay mask. Here is what you should do-

Try to get some good quality of facial pack clay from the market. The preferred clay types are ‘green clay’ or ‘kaolin clay.’

Take a bowl. Now mix the two types of clay in equal proportions. Take amounts that would be sufficient to cover your face and neck. Now add some rose water, ‘Margosa’ paste and sandalwood paste into this mixture.

Make sure your put one tablespoon of rose water, half tablespoon of sandalwood paste and one tablespoon of ‘Margosa’ paste into it. If possible try adding some Aloe Vera paste too.

Keep this in the refrigerator for some time and once it cools, apply over the face and neck area evenly. Keep the mask for 15 minutes and wash off. Repeat this process everyday to remove excess oil from the skin.

Fruit mask

Banana face masks are just as easy to prepare and effective for oily skin. All one has to do is to take a ripe banana in a bowl. Soften it. Try using some orange peel that has been dried and powdered.

Mix around a tablespoon of this powder along with the banana paste. Add rose water, a spoon of honey and a pinch of lemon to the mixture.

Mix the mixture properly and apply all over your face and neck region for around 15 minutes. Wash off with cold water and pat your face dry. Within a few weeks this face-mask reportedly makes one’s skin soft and supple. Also, it brings oil secretion down.
