General Mobile Brings COSMOS Android Phone

General Mobile might not be big name in the cell phone sector, but it has not missed the Android train. The first Android powered smartphone developed by the company last year was called DSTL 1. However, the first Android phone of General Mobile was not as successful as the Google phones launched by HTC or Motorola. General Mobile has now arrived with its next Android phone, dubbed COSMOS, which is an improved version of the earlier Android phone.

General Mobile COSMOS

General Mobile COSMOS is a standard smartphone equipped with impressive smartphone features. To match the efficiency of the latest Android phones, General Mobile has incorporated the Android 2.0 Éclair operating system in the smartphone. While the Android smart devices are vying for speed by incorporating the best Qualcomm processors, General Mobile has thought it better to fit the COSMOS handset with the Marvell PXA935 processor.

You might not get the 1GHz speed of the Snapdragon processor on the COSMOS handset, but 624MHz speed will definitely be enough to meet your most fast data transfer needs. However, the 128MB RAM of the General Mobile Android phone might make the smartphone little sluggish while running specific apps. COSMOS is a full touchscreen phone. It flaunts a 3.2 inches high-resolution (320 x 480 pixels) HVGA capacitive touchscreen. The capacitive touch display of the device will suck less battery juice. The accelerometer fitted into the COSMOS handset will automatically switch image view from portrait to landscape view as you rotate the handset.

The 5 megapixel camera of the phone comes with auto focus. However, flash is absent from the phone’s camera. Multimedia player and FM radio are integrated in the handset. COSMOS also provides Bluetooth support. This upcoming Android phone will run on the quad band GSM or EDGE network. It is also capable of running on the tri band UMTS or HSDPA network. COSMOS features Wi-Fi and 3G support. The integrated GPS of the Android touchscreen phone will help users to locate directions on the move. This phone even features digital compass and USB 2.0 port. General Mobile COSMOS comes with 256MB internal storage space. The microSD card slot will facilitate external memory expansion up to 16GB.
