Fish Fry

Fish fry is an excellent dish that can be served for lunch or dinner. Now a days most of the people like to have a fish fry along with vegetable salad as their meal. Here is a recipe that helps you to make a delicious fish fry.

Ingredients for Fish Fry

White fleshed fish – 800 grams
Ground Turmeric – half teaspoon
Salt – half teaspoon
Mustard oil – 23 teaspoon
Coriander powder – one tablespoon
Cumin powder – one teaspoon
Ginger – one and a half teaspoon finely grated ginger
Red chili powder – half teaspoon
Salt – half teaspoon
Kalonji – quarter teaspoon
Dried and whole red chili – Four
Bay leaves – two
Onion – one finely chopped onion
Green chilli – three


Take the fish and clean them very well. Now cut fillets about the size of four centimeter each. Then rub these fillets in salt and turmeric powder and keep it for fifteen minutes. Keep a non stick frying pan on the flame and heat the oil on medium heat. Place the fish fillets to the oil and make it light brown on all sides. Slowly lift the fish pieces out of the oil and keep it on a plate.

Take a small bowl and to this add coriander powder, cumin powder, grated ginger, chili powder and half teaspoon salt. Combine the entire mixture well with three tablespoon of water.

Again heat the remaining oil  in the frying pan over a medium heat and add kalonji. After  two seconds add four whole and dried red chilies and when the red chilies started to darken add bay leaves. Then add the finely chopped onion and saute it in low flame. Now  add the spice mixture prepared before to the frying pan and fry it for a minute. Now place the fish fillets in single layer in the pan and pour a cup of water to the pan. Place the green chilies over the fish fillets and heat the entire contents in medium flame for two minutes.

Pour the sauce with a spoon over the fish fillets and cover and cook the fish for ten to fifteen minutes on low flame. Now your mouth watering fish fry is ready to serve.
