Easy Home Remedies For Heartburn

Heartburn Heartburn or the discomfort and burning feeling that occurs in the lower chest can occur due to several reasons. Wrong food and heavy meals are largely responsible for this condition. If for some reason the muscles present at the lower end of the esophagus fail to close properly, the acidic contents in the stomach can move up from the stomach into the esophagus. The upwards movement of the stomach contents causes heartburn. The stomach acid causes irritation in the upper chest, and when it reaches the tongue, we get a sour taste in our mouth.

Heartburn causes
Often heartburn is a temporary condition that might last for a few minutes up to several hours. Indigestion is responsible for heartburn. Certain foods can trigger heartburn. Caffeine, alcohol, tomatoes, citrus fruits, chocolates, spicy and fatty foods can cause heartburn. Overeating and going to bed soon after eating is also responsible for heartburn. Obesity, smoking and stress increase the risk of heartburn. Suffering from heartburn for a long period can damage the esophagus lining.
