Toxic substances are present in the air, water and soil.Toxins enter our bodies through the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. These harmful substances are responsible for several illnesses.

Removal of toxins from the body is the objective of detox diet. Liquid or juice diet and raw food diet are the common forms of detox diet. You can even promote detoxification by drinking detox tea.

Ingredients in detox tea
Detox teas are herbal teas that facilitate detoxification of the liver, kidneys, lungs, colon and blood. Herbs present in these beverages could cleanse one or more organs at a time. Ginger, turmeric, sage, black pepper, parsley, anise, cardamom, dandelion, cinnamon, coriander, liquorices, juniper, cloves and burdock are some common ingredients used for making detox teas. You can buy detox tea bags from your local health food store or make your own detox tea at home by blending multiple herbs.

Detox teas during weight loss
Detox teas should be included in weight loss diets. These herbal teas do not promote weight loss. But they are needed to reduce the toxin content in the body, which rises during the weight loss process.

Toxins are stored in our bodies in the fat tissues. When the body loses the fat cells, the toxins are released in the bloodstream. Detox teas helps to flush out the toxins from the body.

Detox tea recipes

Lemon detox tea
To prepare lemon detox tea, you need two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, one tablespoon of honey or maple syrup, a pinch of cayenne pepper and a cup of lukewarm water. Mix all the ingredients and your lemon detox tea is ready. For best results, drink a cup of lemon detox tea in the morning on empty stomach.

Detox tea for liver cleansing
Herbs such as dandelion, golden seal, milk thistle, horseradish, fennel and celery could improve the health of the liver. Detox tea for cleansing the liver could be prepared with one or several liver friendly dried herbs. To make liver detox tea, mix the herbs in equal proportions. Brew a teaspoon of the dried herb mixture in a cup of boiling water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Add a teaspoon of lemon juice to the herbal tea.
