Smartphone geeks in China are gearing up for two great upcoming phones – Altek T8680 camera phone and Samsung i329 Windows Mobile. Given the impressive features of these phones, we only hope that the rest of the world outside China also gets these devices soon.
We have already seen two 12-megapixel camera phones – Sony Ericsson Satio and Samsung Pixon 12. The Taiwanese company Altek has further expanded the scope of the 12-megapixel cell phone by creating Altek T8680.
The features of this high-end camera phone are comparable to any advanced stand alone digital camera. It has an integrated dedicated image processor that gives this Altek handset the tag of a professional camera phone. The lens of the camera could be extended like any standalone camera. The camera of Altek T8680 is also equipped with xenon flash and 3x optical zoom. The 12-megapixel resolution camera is equipped with features such as smile detection, face detection, touch focus, and several shooting and scenes modes. The camera of Altek T8680 can record VGA resolution videos with AVI files.
Besides the stunning camera, the 12MP Altek camera phone features 3-inch touchscreen display, USB, Bluetooth, media playback and FM radio. The accelerometer fitted in the device could mute a call with a turning motion. Altek T8680 will run on tri band GSM and Edge. The battery will support up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 350 hours of standby time. This camera phone will cost around $440.
In association with China Unicom, Samsung, the Korean neighbor of China, will be launching Samsung i329. Samsung i329 shares many features of Samsung Omnia Lite B7300. Samsung i329, running on Windows Mobile platform, features a 3-inch touchscreen display of 240×400 pixel resolution and TouchWiz user interface. It will run on CDMA network. Samsung i329 Windows Mobile has 512MB internal storage space. Its external memory could be extended up to 32GB with microSDHC memory card.
