Causes of hip pain can be due to the structural problems of  the hip joint or around the hip joint. Some of the common causes for hip pain are

Tendons attach the muscles with bones. There are various tendons that attach the muscles around the hip joint. These tendons allow the motion of the hip in different direction and provide stability to the hip. Any inflammation on these tendons results in tendonitis and hip pain.

Trochanteric Bursitis

There are large fluid filled sacs called bursas around the hip areas and it allows the tendons and muscles to glide easily. Inflammation that occurs on this bursa due to excessive use or trauma is called trochanteric bursitis.

Osteonercrosis occurs when the blood flow to certain bones gets restricted. Inadequate blood flow towards bones leads to the death of certain cells and thus leads to the collapse of the bones. Hip joint is a common area where osteonecrosis occurs.

Arthritis is considered as another major reason for hip pain. Inflammation in the hip joint due to arthritis may leads to hip pain.

Hip Fracture

Hip fracture or cracks are one of the major reasons for causing hip pain. Hip fracture is commonly seen in people above the age of 50 years and those who have osteoporosis.
