Blood runs through our entire body circulating nutrients and oxygen to the cells. An adult will have five to six liters of blood in his body. Blood consist of white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets etc. White blood cells guard our body by fortifying the immune system while the hemoglobin present in red blood cells carries oxygen to different parts of the body. Platelets play a major role in blood clotting.
Different individuals have different blood groups and the blood groups include A group, B group, AB group and O group. Depending on the presence of Rh factor in the blood the blood is called as positive or negative. If Rh factor is positive then blood group becomes positive and if Rh factor is negative then blood group becomes negative. Among the different groups O group is called universal donor while AB group is called universal recipient.
Blood donation is the transfer of blood from one person to other who is in need of blood. While donating blood to a person the blood compatibility must be checked as incompatible blood groups may cause serious problems. Similarly Rh factor should also be compatible.

Our healthy body can replace blood in two days time. No special diet or rest is required after blood donation and we can easily donate blood to save a life.

If you area person having 18 years old and having 50 kg weight then you can donate blood in every three months time. It won’t affect your health. Before donating blood doctor will under take a thorough health check of the donor to rule out the possibility of infectious diseases including HIV and to ensure that the person who donates the blood is in good health condition to donate the blood.
