Bedroom Feng Shui

Bedroom is one of the most important rooms of your house. In this room your romantic relation blossoms. This is the only place in your house where you try to find peace of mind through a sound sleep. Peaceful slumber is necessary for sound health and mind. The time spent in the bedroom plays an important role in determining the quality of your life.

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese belief of room decoration. Feng Shui practitioners believe that your fortune is governed by the flow of natural energy. If you are someone who believes in the power of the supernatural, these tips could help you to improve the quality of your life by decorating your bedroom according to the Feng Shui principles.

Position of the bed

The bed should be placed far away from the door. The place in your bedroom that is furthest from the door is the ideal place for the bed. However, make sure that you can see the door from the bed. This helps to create a sense of security while balancing the ‘chi’. There should be a solid wall behind the head of the bed. Try not to place the bed below a beam. However, if the place under the beam is the only suitable area available for placing the bed, you can reduce the negative impact of the overhead beam by hanging a bamboo flute or a crystal sphere.

Your sleeping position

You should not sleep with your feet pointing towards the door. According to Feng Shui, this is the ‘coffin position’. If there are more than one entrance door in your bedroom, make sure that both the doors are not open while you are lying on the bed. If you have an en-suite bathroom, the doors of the bathroom should be kept close all the time.

In Feng Shui, red and pink are considered the most suitable colors for bedrooms. It is preferable to use pastel shades of these colors.

If you have a mirror in your bedroom, cover it with a cloth when you are sleeping. Similarly, you should cover all reflective surfaces in your bedroom such as any metal surface or computer monitor before going to sleep.
